REMNANT
Original Hebrew Word: שְׁאֵרִית (sheh-ay-reeth). In the Holy Scriptures, the “remnant” is the faithful portion GOD preserves for HIMSELF-those who repent, trust YESHUA Messiah and keep HIS instructions (TORAH). In the Holy Scriptures, prophets promised a “remnant” would survive judgment and return; in the present, GOD is calling out a “remnant” from Israel and the nations through YESHUA; in the future, a refined “remnant” will endure the final judgment of GOD and inherit the Kingdom of GOD (ISA 10:20-22). A new Heaven and a new Earth (Rev 21:1-4).

Journey Members,
The Bread of Haste Ministry (BHM)
Dear Journey Members,
Across the Holy Scriptures, “remnant” doesn’t mean an elite club, specific religion, denomination, class or race of people. It doesn’t represent, acknowledge or recognize a social economic status. It means a humble, fruit of the Holy Spirit of GOD, "GOD fearing people”. It represents repentant people GOD preserves, small in number, who trust HIS promises and walk in HIS Commandments, in obedience to HIS instructions (TORAH), (Zep 3:12-13).
The word/term remnant is used more than 90 -100 times in the Holy Scriptures; however, sources estimate that the theme is present up to 540 times depending on translation and Hebrew/Greek roots.
Definition (Websters)
A remnant is a small, remaining part, quantity, or trace of something left over after the rest has been used, removed, or destroyed. It often refers to physical leftovers like cloth remnants or food, or abstract concepts like remnants of a civilization. Synonyms include remainder, residue, trace, vestige, and leftover.
TORAH and the Prophets
TORAH anticipates scattering for covenant unfaithfulness, but also promises mercy for those who return to GOD and HIS Commandments (DEU 30:1-3). That returned group is the “remnant-in view.
Elijah learned that even in widespread apostasy, GOD kept a people (remnant) for HIMSELF - seven thousand who had not bowed to Baal (1 KNGS 19:18); Paul cites this to explain remnant today (ROM 11:2-4). Isaiah repeatedly announces that judgement will purge pride, yet a “remnant” shall return and lean on GOD in truth (ISA 10:20-22 and 11:11-16). The Prophets Micah and Zephaniah add that this remnant will be humble, purified, and restored (MIC 2:12, 4:6-7; ZEP 3:12-13. The prophetic pattern is consistent as GOD “always” is. GOD disciplines to refine, preserves a faithful few (remnant), and brings them back to covenant life.
TORAH is one unified standard of covenant life. YESHUA (The living TORAH)…did not and could not abolish it; HE upheld it and fulfilled it full of meaning as did the Apostles. Grace does not replace obedience; Grace redeems and empowers it. Therefore, the remnants’ obedience is a Holy Spirit-led, fruit of redeemed life. The New/or Renewed Covenant writes TORAH on our hearts, uniting all peoples in one people; this is the “remnant life today and the Kingdom of GOD life tomorrow (JER 31:31-33; HEB 8:8-10 and EPH 2:14-19).
Remnant - First Century
Rabbi YESHUA proclaims the Kingdom of GOD and restores the lost sheep of Israel (MAT 15:21-28). His apostles announce that what the prophets foretold is underway: sanctified people for GOD’S name including the nations (ACTS 15:14-18, citing Amos 9). Paul notes that not all who are Israel are walking as Israel, but GOD has kept “a remnant” according to HIS purposes (ROM 9:6-8 and 11:1-7). This remnant is formed by faith in Yeshua Messiah and shaped by covenant “obedience” (ROM 3:31 and JOH 14:15). The nation (Gentiles), are not a separate peoples; they are “GRAFTED” into Israel’s cultivated olive tree through faith in YESHUA, joining the same remnant people GOD preserves for HIMSELF. This one (ECHAD) assembly/remnant across the entirety of scripture. GOD’S plan for the salvation of HIS creation, not a brand-new entity that replaces Israel…replacement theology is a lie!!!

Remnant - Our Journey Message
Yes, quite a bit to unpack here. Our journey of faith took most of our religious lives just to begin to understand GOD’S plan for the salvation of HIS creation. Yes, HIS plan began in the garden after the first man’s’ (Adam’s) blatant disobedience/rebellion against GOD. Yes, the sin gene (disobedience/rebellion), was stamped in our DNA. King David said “against YOU (GOD) and YOU only, have I sinned, and done this evil in YOUR sight—That YOU may be found just when YOU speak, and blameless when YOU judge (PSA 51:4).” Yes, when we sin…we too sin directly against GOD. We, like generations before us and generations today, were/are never taught the consequences of our choice to rebel against GOD; however, still, today, “the wages of sin is death; but, the gift of GOD (YESHUA), is eternal life (ROM 6:23). This was and is disturbing as the “mystery of iniquity” unfolded from the very moment Adam rebelled against GOD and, disobedience/rebellion continues to this very day.
Spiritual derision/confusion continues to blind GOD’S creation under the auspices of religion (traditions of men).
In our home during Shabbat, we sometimes imagine being with Israel as apart of Israel (the Mixed-multitude), as they journeyed from bondage, witnessed the awesome protection and power of GOD and journeyed to the mountain with HIS presence guiding them/us over 3,000 years ago. Israel (the mixed-multitude), was not meant to stay in Egypt as the covenant promise established by GOD to Abraham, had to be fulfilled.
We like to imagine that we were there at the Holy Mountain in the presence of GOD, when GOD moved and spoke to the “mixed-multitude,” directly. We often reflect on what/who went into the promised land; and the answer repeatedly and loudly, bring us back to this reality…”a faithful remnant” crossed the Jordan, led by Joshua, into the land GOD promised…”a faithful remnant” and, a faithful remnant (HIS bride) GOD will claim when HE returns. It is even more important today, to read and study the Holy Scriptures for ourselves and not to be deceived by the ramblings of religion (traditions of men).
The time is growing near. So too will that day be when GOD returns to claim “HIS” bride, HIS faithful Remnant.” SHALOM!
